Step 1: Install
Office2CAD or AutoBlock
|
|
Browse
to http://www.cadtool.net/trial.htm
to download Offce2CAD or AutoBlock.
Unzip
and run the installer to install Offce2CAD or AutoBlock on each
user's PC.
Choose
Register User option when install Offce2CAD or AutoBlock. |

Step 2: Configure network license
|
|
Users only need to configure this once. Users need not to set it up again
unless your system admin changes
CADTool License Server's IP
address.
|
|
In
AutoCAD or MicroStation, click on CADTool
>> Configure Network License
|
|
|
Key
in the Server IP you obtained from your system
admin. Port
No is always 555
Click
on OK button to finish
|
|
|
Once setup, users are able to use Offce2CAD or AutoBlock.

For
system admin: How to install CADTool license server
|
|
Step 1: Install license server
|
|
Unzip
the license server installer Setup-Server-Company Name-License
Num-Version No.zip
you received from CADTool.
Run the
installer on the server workstation to install license server.
|
|
The following steps are based on Windows 2000 ,
these steps apply similarly to Windows NT and XP.
|
|
Step 2: Go to Windows service control panel
|
|
Browse to Windows Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services
Highlight CADToolServer and double click it.
If you could not find CADToolServer service in the service panel,
it is because your Administrator account is not named
"Administrator". Rename the account to
"Administrator" and run above installer again and see if CADToolServer service
name appears. After that rename the account name back to original.

Step 3: Change service log on
|
|
Click
on Log On tab, and check This account radio button.
Change
log on to either local account or domain account.
For
local account, use the form .\account , for example, .\Administrator
For domain account, use the form domain\account , for example, mydomain\david
Key
in the password, and click on Apply, then OK to
continue.

|
|
Step 4: Start CADTool server
|
|
Highlight CADToolServer again and right click mouse
to start the service
|
|
|
Step 5: Verify the license server is running properly
|
|
Browse
to C:\CADTool\logs\ folder and open the log file using any text
editor.
Make
sure that Server started. Listening on port 555 ... appears and
the license number you purchased is correct.
|
|
|
Step 6: Pass server's IP to end users
|
|
You can
retrieve the server's IP address using IPConfig /all under
Windows DOS shell.
Pass the
server's IP to your end users for them
to configure their network license.
|
|
Step 7: About CADTool license server
|
-
The
server runs as a Windows service. It is still running even there
is no user login to a PC.
-
There
is no user interface for the server. All activities and error
messages can be traced by viewing the current date's log file
inside C:\CADTool\logs\ folder.

Users
can start/stop the server by clicking on start/stop in Windows
service control panel as shown below.

For
system admin: How to add seats/modules to CADTool license server
|
|
All
CADTool modules use the same license server.
When
users purchase more seats of license, or new modules, they should
follow steps below to upgrade their license files.
The
following steps are based on Windows 2000 , these steps apply
similarly to Windows NT and XP
|
|
Step 1: Stop CADTool license server
|
|
Browse
to Windows Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >>
Administrative Tools >> Services
Highlight CADToolServer, click mouse right button and stop the server.
|
|
|
Step 2: Update server license file
|
|
Open up
the email CADTool sent you, there is an attachment file server.lic in
the email.
Save
this file, server.lic, to your server's C:\CADTool\DLL\
folder and overwrite the existing one.
|
|
Step 3: Re-start CADTool server
|
|
Browse
to Windows Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >>
Administrative Tools >> Services
Highlight CADToolServer, click mouse right button and start the
server.
|
|
|
Step 4: Verify the new purchased module or seats are added
|
|
Browse
to C:\CADTool\logs\ folder and open up current date's log file
using any text editor.
Make
sure that Server started. Listening on port 555 ... appears and
the new purchased module or seats are added.

|
|
Step 5:
|
|
Get
end users to try out the the new purchased module or seat licenses.

system admin: How to uninstall CADTool license server
|
|
Step 1: Stop the server
|
|
Browse
to Windows Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >>
Administrative Tools >> Services
Highlight CADToolServer, click mouse right button and stop the server.
|
|
|
Step 2: Remove CADToolServer service
|
|
In DOS
Shell, go inside C:\CADTool\ folder, key in Instsrv CADToolServer remove
C:\CADTool>Instsrv CADToolServer remove
|
|
|
Step 3: Run uninstaller
|
|
Run Uninstall CADTool License Server as shown below.
